Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled by the Numismatic Foundation Android application (the “App”) and this companion website. It also identifies the separate App Support contact for technical and privacy questions.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to the App and this companion website. It does not govern your Android operating system, browser, email provider, phone provider, GitHub Pages, or any other external service that you choose to open.

3. Information Stored Locally

The App lets you voluntarily create:

• Field Guide progress: which steps of the eight-step study checklist you mark complete.
• Catalog records: a working object title, optional reference or provenance text, observations and open questions, and an on-device date and time.

These items are stored in the App's local storage on your Android device. They are not submitted to the Foundation or App Support by the App.

4. How Local Information Is Used

Local information is used only to show study progress and catalog records back to you inside the App. Marking a step complete or saving a record does not submit an object, request, application, appraisal, or message to the Foundation or App Support. The App does not use local information for advertising, profiling, eligibility decisions, appraisals, authentication, credit decisions, or automated decision-making.

5. Internet, Analytics, Ads, and Accounts

• The App does not request the Android Internet permission.
• The App does not include ads, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
• The App does not require an account or sign-in.
• The App does not operate a cloud database or sell personal information.
• The companion website does not intentionally set cookies and includes no advertising or analytics script.

6. Email and Phone Contact

When you choose to email App Support, the App or website asks your device to open an external email application with the support address and, when applicable, your drafted content prepared. You can review, edit, or cancel it. Nothing is sent until you press Send in your email application.

If you send an email, the message, your email address, and any information you include are processed by your email provider and received by App Support. Tapping the support phone number asks your device to open its phone application; the App does not place a call automatically.

7. Website Contact Form

The website contact form creates a mailto: link. This static website does not receive or store what you type. Information is transmitted only if you send the prepared message using your email application.

8. External Applications and Resources

The App may ask Android to open a browser, phone application, or email application. Those external applications and any websites you visit have their own terms and privacy practices. The App does not receive information you provide to them.

9. Android Backup and Device Transfer

Depending on your Android device, account, and backup settings, locally stored App data may be included in an Android backup or device-to-device transfer. These processes are controlled by Android and your selected backup provider, not by the App.

10. Website Hosting and Technical Logs

GitHub Pages hosts this static website. GitHub may process standard technical information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and access time for security and service operation. App Support does not combine those hosting logs with local Field Guide progress or catalog records.

11. Children's Privacy

The App and website provide general-audience educational information and do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account, analytics tool, advertising service, or online database. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use of email, phone, or external links.

12. Data Security

The App limits data handling by keeping Field Guide progress and catalog records on the device and using external applications for email, phone, and web actions. Reasonable safeguards are used for support messages, but no device, email, backup, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

13. Retention, Deletion, and Choices

You can reopen completed Field Guide steps and delete individual catalog records inside the App. Local data otherwise remains until you clear the App's storage or uninstall it. You may decline to create a record, cancel a prepared email, disable applicable Android backups, clear App storage, or uninstall the App. To request deletion of information previously emailed to App Support, contact the address below; requests are handled subject to applicable legal, security, and recordkeeping obligations.

14. Policy Changes and Contact
